Police probe fatal shooting of motorcyclist in Inkster

Michigan State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old motorcyclist in Inkster on Thursday.

Police said witnesses reported gunshots around 7 p.m. and then saw two motorcycle riders. One of the riders, Demetrius Jerel Jenkins, fell off his bike at Carlysle and Middlebelt, got up for a short moment and then collapsed and later died.

The second motorcycle driver stopped, reportedly checked on the victim and then left the scene, police said.

Detectives are looking for tips to identify two vehicles that may have witnessed the shooting.
