River Rouge man charged in fatal shooting
The son of a River Rouge city councilman is accused of killing a 59-year-old man, officials said Monday.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Justin Joseph Pruneau, 33, of River Rouge, will be charged in the death of Robert Carson Cook, 59, also of River Rouge. Cook was killed at about 8 p.m. Friday at his home on Oak Street, she said.
Pruneau allegedly rode to Cooks home on a bicycle with a rifle concealed in a garbage bag, according to authorities.
Once in Cook's home, Pruneau fired the rifle at the victim, shooting him in the abdomen, they said.
Pruneau then fled from the home on his bicycle. Police arrested him later Friday, officials said.
Cook was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injury, according to Worthy.
Worthy also said her office has charged Pruneau with open murder and felony firearm possession. She said he will be formally charged in court Monday.
