No weapon or threat was found at Garden City High School after it was put on lockdown because a student found a bullet in a stairwell, district officials said.

"A search has been completed by bomb dogs from throughout the state of Michigan at Garden City High School," Principal Sharon Kollar said in a statement Wednesday. "No threat of any kind was detected."

The high school was put on lockdown after a bullet was found in a stairwell around 7:30 a.m., police said.

Police said the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution and school staff searched the building, according to authorities.

Officials said police provided added security to the school during the search.

As an added security measure, police K-9 units were summoned to the school to aid in the search.

No students are able to enter or exit the school, Kollar said in a statement earlier Wednesday.

She did not give specifics on the situation or a reason for the lockdown.
