A threat against Belleville High School has put police and school officials on alert Friday, Van Buren Public Schools said.

Classes are being held as normal but with an increased police presence throughout the day as a precautionary measure, district officials said in a statement.

School officials said they received a call from local police about an anonymous caller leaving a message on a tip line that reported someone possibly said something about a shooting at the high school on Friday.

No other information was provided by the caller, officials said.

The district's administration said the threat is extremely vague and may not be credible.

The school is located near West Huron River Drive and South Street in Belleville.
