A 24-year-old Wayne woman has been charged in the murder of her 3-year-old daughter, authorities said Monday.

Cassandra Kay Michalski was formally charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the 29th District Court in Wayne, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

A judge ordered her held on a $100,000 bond and scheduled her next court appearance for March 6. The judge also set several conditions of bond for Michalski, including not being able to return to her home, to not have any contact with children and she must wear a GPS tether.

Authorities accuse Michalski of killing her daughter, Skylar Michalski.

Police said Michalski took Skylar from their home in the 34400 block of John Street in Wayne to the nearby Oakwood Annapolis Hospital on Nov. 10, 2017 at about 8:10 p.m.

Doctors at the hospital declared the 3-year-old deceased.

A police officer was sent to the hospital to investigate the child's death and found no injuries to her head, neck or back.

However, the medical examiner on Feb. 2 ruled the girl's death was a homicide and the cause was abusive head trauma.
