Inkster mom accused of shooting son gets $50K bond
Ebonie Schofield, the 37-year-old Inkster woman accused of shooting her 16-year-old son at their apartment last week, was given a bond of $50,000 at her arraignment this weekend in Romulus, and is at Wayne County Jail, records show.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office, at about 8 a.m. Thursday, Schofield and her 16-year-old son were arguing and shoved each other in their apartment in the 630 block of Tobin Drive. The area is north of Avondale and west of Beech Daly.
Police say Schofield made the teen leave the apartment, and while he was outside banging on the door, Schofield shot him in the left shoulder with a handgun, authorities allege.
The son was taken to a hospital for treatment of his wound. Schofield was charged with assault to do great bodily harm less than murder. If she does post bond, she has to wear a tether as her case is decided.
