A 19-year-old Inkster man was hit by a train Sunday afternoon but has survived, police said Sunday.
The man was struck in the area of Merriman and Michigan “when a portion of a passing train clipped the pedestrian as the pedestrian walked dangerously close to the tracks,” Westland police said. He did not have life-threatening injuries, they said.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. Sunday and remains under investigation. Three men were walking near the tracks when one was struck, according to WXYZ-TV (Channel 7). More details on the incident are expected to be released later Sunday.
