Woman slain in Inkster; boyfriend arrested

A man is facing charges in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend in Inkster, Michigan State Police said.

Neighbors called 911 about 6:15 a.m. Thursday to report a dispute between the couple at an apartment on Cherry Valley Drive, investigators said in a statement.

The boyfriend “brought over his 4-year-old son and asked them to take care of him because he and his girlfriend were fighting” and then left the complex, the release read.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unlocked door and a woman dead with gunshot wounds near her head and shoulder, according to the release.

While detectives combed the scene, they learned the boyfriend had turned himself in at the Detroit Police Department 9th Precinct.

The boyfriend, whose name was not released, was taken into custody and transported to the Inkster Police Department for an interview. Other details were not released.
