A man and a woman in their 50s were found slain from gunshot wounds Saturday afternoon in Flat Rock, but hours later police made an arrest in the case.

It was about 1:20 p.m. when Flat Rock police responded to a 911 call on the 24000 block of Chinook, about two people who were found fatally shot. The scene is in the Deerfield Estates subdivision, north of Vreeland and east of Telegraph.

Officers arrived to find a 56-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman dead. Detectives were notified and law enforcement was alerted to be on the lookout for the victims' vehicle, a Mercury Montego.

Four hours after the 911 call, at about 5:40 p.m., Michigan State Police and Customs Border Patrol located the vehicle in Trenton and took a 58-year-old male suspect into custody.

Michigan State Police has processed the crime scene, and the investigation is ongoing. No information immediately available on the relationship between the suspect and the  victims.
