River Rouge man arraigned for impersonating a cop
A River Rouge man was arraigned on charges related to impersonating a police officer after authorities say he attempted to pull over a woman while driving an unmarked vehicle.
The incident was reported March 27 on the Lodge Freeway (M-10) near Interstate 94 in Detroit.
Michigan State Police say they were able to pin 23-year-old Blake Purvis to the crime after searching his vehicle and discovering a K-9 jacket and K-9 collar brass.
Police arrested Purvis on Wednesday and charged him with misdemeanors of unlawfully wearing or displaying law enforcement identification and possession of flashing lights on a motor vehicle.
Purvis was taken to the Detroit Detention Center where he posted bond, police say.
"If a driver has any doubt if they are being stopped by a real police officer they should keep driving, turn on their emergency flashers and contact 911 to verify if that is a real police officer," Michigan State Police said in a release.
