A Wayne County man, 70, won $1.3M jackpot from Michigan Lottery.

A Wayne County man thought he had written down the wrong numbers when he saw his Lotto 47 numbers had won the jackpot.

The 70-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched six numbers drawn Saturday totaling $1.3 million.

“I watched the drawing Saturday night and scribbled the numbers down really quick,” the player said in a press release.

He bought five tickets from a Mobil gas station on Van Born Road in Dearborn Heights and said when he checked the last one, all six numbers, 9-23-28-35-41-45, matched.

“I thought I had written the numbers down wrong, so I asked my wife to run up to the store to get a printout. When I matched my ticket to the numbers on the printout, I knew I was the winner!”

He claimed the prize Wednesday at Lottery headquarters and chose to receive a one-time lump sum payment of $825,000.

With his winnings, the player plans to take his wife on trips to Alaska and Hawaii, and then invest the rest.

“Knowing we have this money gives us so much security and will help us enjoy our retirement together,” the player said.
