Former Wolverine Lake village councilman Michael G. Stack was charged Tuesday in connection with a double-fatal car crash in Canton Township in December.

Stack, 59, was arraigned in Plymouth’s 35th District Court on two counts of reckless driving causing death and one count of open intoxicant in his vehicle. Judge Ronald Lowe ordered a personal bond for Stack.

The wrong-way crash, which occurred at 10:36 a.m. Dec. 12 on northbound Interstate 275 near Cherry Hill Road, killed Shannon Marie McIntyre, 32, and Nicholas Lee Pare, 33.

Investigators determined there was a bottle of alcohol in Stack’s vehicle. Lt. Michael Shaw of the Michigan State Police said Stack’s blood-alcohol level was zero.

Stack resigned Jan. 4 from the Wolverine Lake Village Council. Wolverine Lake is in Commerce Township in northwest Oakland County.

Stack is scheduled for a probable cause conference April 27 and a preliminary examination May 4.
