Authorities have charged a Wayne Memorial High School student they say threatened to shoot classmates this month.

Gustavo Godinez also shared a photograph of a handgun, police said in a statement Tuesday.

The 17-year-old Westland resident was arraigned Sunday in 34th District Court in Romulus for a threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony.

Bond was set at $20,000. A probable-cause conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 1, followed by a preliminary examination a week later.

The teen’s arrest comes as authorities and educators throughout the region continue to respond to threats following the Feb. 14 Parkland, Florida, high school shooting that left 17 dead.

Those incidents have sparked district-wide closures and lockdowns, as well as stiff penalties for some students.
