A 22-year-old man is celebrating after winning a $2 million jackpot from a scratch-off Michigan Lottery ticket he bought at a Southgate party store.

The man, who chose to remain anonymous according to the Michigan Lotto website, bought the winning instant ticket at Busatti Party Store, which is at 12868 Eureka Road in Southgate.

The scratch-off was for an instant game called Diamond Dazzler, and the winner's preference for odd-numbered tickets led him to buy one of the three $2 million awards available for the Diamond Dazzler game. The other two winners have yet to be claimed.

“I like playing instant games, but only buy odd-numbered tickets,” said the player said in an interview with the Michigan Lotto website. “The Diamond Dazzler game is my favorite, so I asked the clerk what number the ticket was. When she said ’21,’ I told her I wanted it.

“I scratched it off in the store and when I saw it was a winner, I looked at the clerk and then at my buddy who was with me, and ran out to my car.”

The winner chose a $1.3 million lump sum payment over receiving smaller sums over time. The Diamond Dazzler game was launched in December 2017 and has paid out some $29 million in winnings.
