Garden City Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place during a home invasion early Thursday.

The shooting took place about 3 a.m. on the 5600 block of Arcola, which is just north of Ford Road and just west of Inkster Road.

The homeowner woke up after hearing someone moving through the home and found the suspect, a man, in his basement.

He confronted the suspect, who pulled a gun and fired a single shot, hitting the homeowner in his hand. Then he fled.

Officers arrived at the scene and searched for the suspect, but to no avail.

The homeowner was treated at an area hospital and released.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, thin, and standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall. He wore a white shirt and red shorts.

Police also believe a second suspect was involved and are working up a description.

Garden City police are asking for the public's help identifying and locating suspects. They ask that anyone with information call Sgt. Sean Green at (734) 793-1700.
