Police and school officials are investigating a report over a Redford Union High School student who allegedly planned to sell a gun to another student on campus.

Officials said the report prompted them to put both the high school and MacGowan Elementary School, which is located across the street, on lockdown Thursday.

They also said police were contacted and all of the classrooms and lockers of the students in connection with the report were searched. No weapon was found in the search, according to the school district.

"The district and high school administrative team will continue to work closely with law
enforcement to investigate further," Sarena Shivers, the district's superintendent, said in a statement issued to parents. "Any student involved in this matter will receive strict
consequences in compliance with the Student Code of Conduct. As always, the safety and security of our students and staff are our number one priority."
