Detroit mom gets probation for kicking 2-year-old son
A Detroit mother seen kicking her 2-year-old boy in a video that went viral was sentenced Tuesday to five years of probation.
Rolaunda Paul, 30, was sentenced on fourth-degree child abuse charges for kicking her young son April 10 outside her apartment building on Delaware Street on Detroit's west side.
Paul had been charged with second-degree child abuse, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for a first offense. Paul pleaded guilty May 10 to the lesser charge, a misdemeanor. She is due back in court Aug. 9 on a neglect case brought against her by the state involving her child.
No physical injuries were reported to the child as a result of Paul's actions.
