Northville Township police are warning residents to be on alert for a burglar.

Police are investigating a report of a man trying to breaking into several homes early Friday, officials said.

The suspect attempted to get into the homes between 2:30 and 3 a.m. in the neighborhoods off of Six Mile and between Sheldon and Beck roads, police said.

Images of the man were captured on a home's security system, according to authorities. The footage shows the man wearing a ski mask and dressed in dark clothing, trying to gain access to a home. Officials said there is no indication he was able to get inside the home.

Anyone with information about the suspect should call the Northville Township Police at (248) 349-9400.

Police urge residents to make sure they lock their home doors, their cars and leave exterior lights on when it's dark. They also request residents report all suspicious incidents immediately.

Police also said they will have additional patrols in the area.
