A missing 8-year-old girl from Trenton has been found and her father is in custody, Michigan State Police said late Wednesday.

MSP had amassed near a home on Kensington Street in Taylor and had been negotiating with Janna Marie Lewis' biological father for her release.

She appeared healthy and her father, who was arrested, was being interviewed by detectives, MSP said on Twitter.

"MSP is working with Child Protective Services to have Janna taken to a local hospital to be checked out as a precaution," the agency said.

Janna had been reported missing Wednesday morning. MSP had asked the public for help in finding her, who was last seen in the area of Fort Street and West Road in Trenton, according to officials.

Authorities had issued an endangered missing child advisory and said Janna, who uses a wheelchair, had not been returned home by her biological father, Michael Charles Lewis, 40.

Lewis does not have legal custody of Jenna, who requires daily medication. He was required by a court order to return Jenna to her family.
