Flat Rock man charged in deaths of sister, brother-in-law
A 57-year-old Flat Rock man was charged Friday in the double homicide of his sister and brother-in-law, officials said.
Thomas Lane Jr., is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of fleeing and eluding and firearm offenses in the March 31 deaths of his sister, Catherine Markowski and her husband Mark Harris, the Wayne County prosecutor's office said.
The bodies were discovered around 1:20 p.m. March 31 at a residence in the 24800 block of Chinook Court by Flat Rock police. Both had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Lane had been living in his sister's home for several months, according to the prosecutors. Authorities allege Lane fatally shot the couple and fled in their car.
Michigan State Police arrested him a few hours later and confiscated a handgun from the car.
He is expected to be arraigned in 33rd District Court in Woodhaven on Monday.
