Ford Road is getting a little makeover and the work starts next Monday, state officials said.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said it will close Ford Road, or M-153, between Lotz Road in Canton Township and Wayne Road in Westland for a $2.2 million pavement resurfacing project.

The 2.3-mile stretch will remain closed until late September, officials said.

Under the project, crews will mill and resurface the asphalt, patch concrete, repair curbs and gutters, upgrade sidewalk ramps, pedestrian signals, drains and pavement markings, they said.

Motorists can expect lane closures in both directions of Ford Road in the work zone. At least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times, the agency said.

It's estimated an average of nearly 38,000 vehicles travel the stretch of road daily, according to officials.
