The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced charges Tuesday against a Canton Township man accused of driving drunk during a crash Friday in Wayne that killed a woman.

Tyler Robinson, 25, faces one count of reckless driving causing death and one count of operating under the influence causing death, both felonies. He was given a $500,000 bond at his arraignment, and as of Tuesday afternoon is behind bars at Wayne County Jail.

The fatal crash took place late Friday night, at 11:30 p.m., at Wayne Road and Michigan Avenue. Authorities say Robinson ignored a red light and crashed into another vehicle, killing a 54-year-old West Bloomfield Township woman.

Police responded and "smelled the odor of intoxicants" on Robinson, according to a  statement from the prosecutor's office. That night, police took him to the hospital. The next morning, police arrested him.

Robinson is due for a probable cause conference on July 17, before Judge Laura Redmond Mack, at 29th District Court in Wayne. His preliminary exam has not yet been scheduled.
