Police recover grenades from Livonia home
Authorities recovered five smoke grenades Wednesday from a home in Livonia.
The owner recently had died and someone found the devices while cleaning the house on the 16000 block of Farmington, Michigan State Police officials said in a statement on Twitter.
The MSP Bomb Squad helped the Livonia Police Department recover and identify the explosives, which will be disposed, the agency tweeted.
"The bomb squad has received a lot of calls as veterans pass away and family finds old war souvenirs in their homes," the MSP post said. "Please do not touch these items and contact law enforcement so we can remove them safely. DO NOT box them up and drive them down to your MSP Post. Yes it happens!"
