Police arrived, the suspect fled on foot, and officers chased and arrested him. Police said he was carrying a loaded handgun at the time.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has charged Pickens with armed robbery, assault with intent to rob while armed, carrying a concealed weapon, assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, and felony firearm.

At his arraignment on Sept. 29, at 34th District Court, Pickens was given a $2,500 bond. Wayne County Jail records do not list Pickens as a current inmate.

Pickens is due in court on Oct. 9 for a probable cause conference and a week later for his preliminary exam, both at 29th District Court in Wayne.
