Cops: Dearborn Hts. man peed on neighbor's home
A Dearborn Heights man was charged with ethnic intimidation after authorities said he urinated on his neighbor's house and yelled racial slurs at them, officials said Tuesday.
Jason Glenn Sherman, 35, has been charged with ethnic intimidation and malicious destruction of property, according to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy's Office.
A judge in 20th District Court ordered Sherman held on a $50,000 bond and ordered him not to have contact with the victims or go to the street where they reside, officials said.
He is scheduled to appear next in court on Oct. 17.
Dearborn Heights police officers spoke to the victim and the suspect at about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 16 in the 5600 block of Hubbel. They also reviewed camera footage from the victim.
Police accuse Sherman of yelling racial epithets at the victim, making sexual gestures, urinating on the victim's house and destroying landscaping, officials said.
"Wayne County is one of the most diverse counties in the United States and we should have zero tolerance for the actions of those who trample on the rights of its citizens," Worthy said in a statement. "The alleged actions of this defendant were vulgar and repulsive. We certainly will not and should not accept this type of behavior that emanates from hate."
