Suspect arrested in assault at Westland pizzeria

Police have arrested a suspect in the Friday assault of a pizzeria owner at his business, officials said.

The attack happened between 2 and 4 p.m. at the Nautilus Sub & Pizza Shop on Cherry Hill near Wayne Road, according to police.

The victim was struck with a blunt object and suffered a broken jaw and multiple injuries, officials said. They also said on Tuesday he remains hospitalized.

Detectives identified the suspect in the assault as a former employee of the pizzeria, police said.

They also said they plan to submit a warrant request against the suspect with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Police are not releasing the suspect's name until he is formally charged in court.
