16-year-old charged in fatal stabbing at Taylor graduation party

Taylor – Prosecutors have given a 16-year-old adult designation in the fatal July 6 stabbing of another teenager at a Taylor graduation party.

Giannfranco Delgado of Southgate has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to murder, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. 

Delgado was formally charged Saturday at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility in Detroit before a referee. The referee ordered him remanded to the facility.  

His next court date was scheduled for Tuesday at the Lincoln Hall of Justice.

Because he has been designated as an adult, a judge can sentence him as a juvenile or an adult or blend juvenile and adult sentences if Delgado is convicted.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Friday the boy faces a He’s expected to be arraigned Saturday at a juvenile detention center in Detroit.

Authorities say Delgado fatally stabbed 17-year-old Cameron Petty of Detroit on July 6 during a large fight at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 24900 Brest near Telegraph.

He also allegedly stabbed two other young men during that brawl. Those two victims were taken to a hospital and treated for their wounds.
