Dearborn woman fatally shot during armed robbery; 2 other attempts made
Dearborn — A 29-year-old woman was fatally shot Friday night during an armed robbery on the city's east side, police said.
Dearborn police responded to reports that a woman had been shot at 9:40 p.m. in the 7800 block of Bingham near Steadman and Morross.
Officers said the woman was approached by multiple suspects on the street and was shot during an apparent robbery. Afterward, the suspects fled the scene.
Dearborn Fire Rescue took the victim to Henry Ford Hospital where she died from her injuries, police said. The identity of the victim was not released by police.
After the incident, officers received another report of a man who was assaulted at gunpoint in the same area before 10 p.m. Police said there were three separate robbery attempts.
They describe the suspects that approached the three victims as a short man wearing a white mask, and a tall man with a thin build, both wearing all black clothing.
Police say they observed a car on multiple surveillance systems that is believed to be the suspect vehicle.
"The Dearborn Police Department sends its condolences to the family and friends of the victim and will aggressively investigate this crime utilizing all available resources," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said.
