Lincoln Park — Michigan State Police have arrested a driver after his car struck a trooper's patrol vehicle Thursday morning, officials said.

The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 75 near Dix, they said.

Troopers were in the area for a previous crash that was being cleared and their vehicles were blocking two northbound lanes of the freeway, according to police.

A vehicle traveling on the interstate struck the a trooper's vehicle in the front on the driver's side and continued north on the freeway. Troopers stopped the vehicle and the driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, officials said.

No one was injured, but the trooper's vehicle received at about $2,000-$3,000 in damage. The suspect's vehicle had only minor damaged and was towed from the scene.

Officials said results of a test showed the suspect's blood-alcohol level was twice the legal limit. The legal limit for drunk driving in Michigan is .08 percent.
