Wayne County treasurer appoints new chief deputy

Wayne County Treasurer Eric Sabree announced Thursday that he has appointed a new chief deputy treasurer.
Jean-Vierre Adams, an attorney who has worked as a consultant for the office since December 2017, took over the role this week, according to a press release.
Adams replaces Melanie Kersey, a former FBI agent, who stepped down last month.
Adams has worked in private practice, including at the Mille Canfield law firm, as well as as the general counsel for the Detroit Public Schools Community District.
“I have worked closely with the Treasurer and his team over the past two years and have gained valuable insight on operations and best practices," Adams said in the release. "I am honored and humbled to serve the people of Wayne County in this new position.”
Sabree said in the release that her role would be "overseeing day-to-day operations.”
