Livonia — Police are investigating a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian that happened Tuesday night, officials said.

Officers received a call at about 8:05 p.m. Tuesday about the crash on Plymouth Road near Market, they said.

According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old Gould, Arkansas, man was traveling east on Plymouth when he struck a 70-year-old Hendersonville, Tennessee, man.

The victim was trying to walk across Plymouth, but not at a crosswalk or intersection, when the vehicle struck him, according to authorities. Medics took the victim, who sustained serious injuries, to a hospital.

Police said it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
