Sumpter Township — Police arrested a man for allegedly firing a gun after a crash on Rawsonville Road Thursday, officials said.

The incident happened at about 4:45 p.m., according to authorities.

Officers were called to the area along Rawsonville Road and south of Bemis Road for reports of shots fired following a traffic crash, police said.

Before they arrived, the suspect fled on foot near the Augusta Woods Manufactured Housing Community. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody with assistance from the Michigan State Police and the Van Buren Public Safety Department, authorities said.
