‘Road Watchers’ sought to report UP highway conditions

Marquette — The Michigan Department of Transportation is seeking “Road Watchers” to report on winter highway conditions in the Upper Peninsula.

It’s the second year for the volunteer effort, which asks participants about road conditions after storms. They’ll be asked by email to complete an online survey about roads on some key routes. Comments gathered will be used to improve winter maintenance.

Routes include portions of U.S. highways 2 and 41 as well as parts of Michigan highways 117 and 129. MDOT is looking for people who drive those roads on a regular basis. Signup information is posted on the state’s website along with additional details.
