Monroe County Sheriff’s officials arrested one suspect and were seeking another connected to an armed robbery this week in Frenchtown Township.

Deputies were called to the Park West Club Apartments at about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on a report that a 25-year-old resident had been robbed by two men armed with guns, officials said in a statement.

“The suspects approached the victim in the parking lot and both pointed guns at the victim demanding his backpack and wallet,” the release read.

While fleeing on foot toward the nearby Landings at Cedar Creek complex, one of the suspects allegedly fired a round, investigators said. No one was struck.

A sheriff’s K-9 unit pursued their trail from the scene, along which authorities recovered some of the stolen items.

The suspects escaped, but after several interviews, county investigators identified one of them.

Obtaining a search warrant, officials went to his home and recovered evidence connected to the robbery, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The suspect wasn’t there at the time; authorities arrested him later that night. Investigators were not identifying him until an arraignment at 1st District Court in Monroe.

Meanwhile, detectives were working to identity the second suspect, who is described as an African-American male in his late teens or early 20s, with average height and build.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at (734) 240-7530.
