A Newport man was charged Wednesday after an investigation into 12 home invasions in Monroe County dating back to September, authorities said.
Gregory Yamek, 63, was arrested Tuesday by Monroe County Sheriff's deputies for second-degree home invasion and possession of a Taser. He was arraigned in First District Court in Monroe. Bond was set at $100,000.
Sheriff Dale Malone said they have been investigating several daytime home invasions over the last few months. After Yamek was arrested, detectives linked him to 11 other burglaries reported in Monroe County dating to September.
"Additional home invasion charges will be sought against Gregory in the next few days," said a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
