Man charged in 2018 sex assault of Michigan minor

Traverse City — A Tennessee man has been charged in the 2018 sexual assault of a minor, Michigan State Police said Tuesday.
Jeremiah Jergins, 40, has been charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, officials said. He was arraigned Tuesday on the charges in the 86th District Court in Traverse City. Each charge is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
Jergins was arrested in Arizona, but lived in Grand Traverse County for a while in 2018, according to authorities. Police accuse him of sexually assaulting a minor multiple times during that period.
Michigan State Police began investigating the allegations in June, but Jergins left the state, officials said.
