Madonna, Meyers, The Game join Flint water aid effort
“Late Night” host Seth Meyers, the Material Girl and rapper The Game are on Flint’s bandwagon.
Meyers and Madonna are answering Jimmy Fallon’s call to action and are donating $10,000 to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.
“Always follow the lead of your lead-in,” the comedian tweeted Tuesday. “I’m in for 10K! CFGF.org #WaterForFlint.” Fallon tweeted Sunday that he would donate $10,000 to the CFGF and asked others to help.
“Happy Sunday!! I’m donating $10,000 to http://www.CFGF.org How about 10 friends match me?” Fallon tweeted.
Madonna also answered Fallon’s call, too, posting to Instagram saying “You got it @JimmyFallon — matching your $10,000 donation! http://www.CFGF.org #WaterForFlint. Let’s all donate!!!! Please Help the children of Flint Michigan! thank you from the bottom of my #rebelheart.”
Rapper the Game (Jayceon Taylor) announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he and his Robin Hood Foundation Project will send $1 million worth of water to Flint. He called out for others to match him.
“I seen @Madonna and @JimmyFallon’s $10,000 donations...that’s cute, but not nearly enough,” he posted to Instagram. “So I challenge both and anyone else in the world to match me and donate $1,000,000 in bottled water to Flint, Michigan. We want proof, shipping order, receipts, bank wire receipts, pictures, etc.”
“No more pretending (to care),” he added.
As of Tuesday, 16 celebrities have pledged donations toward the Flint water crisis.
