Investigator may have break in 1981 Kalamazoo cold case

Associated Press

Benton, La. — Louisiana authorities say a Facebook tip could be what investigators have been searching for in a 34-year-old cold case.

Bossier Parish sheriff’s deputies say a young woman’s remains were found on Jan. 28, 1981, on a rural logging road.

Sgt. Dave Faulk said shoes with writing on them and a belt buckle were found at the scene.

Faulk says her identity and the circumstances surrounding her death have remained a mystery.

That was until deputies received a message on a Facebook page dedicated to the “Bossier Doe” case.

A family in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has been searching for Carol Ann Cole since the late 1970s.

Faulk says deputies have a full DNA profile on Bossier’s Jane Doe. He says the results could take up to six weeks.
