Los Angeles — Police say they are questioning several people in connection to the shooting of two police officers in South Los Angeles.

The officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries. No arrests have been made.

Detective Meghan Aguilar says the officers were in plainclothes and driving near an intersection around 5:45 p.m. Sunday when someone opened fire. She says the officers returned fire and several bystanders scattered from the scene.

Officials say it’s unclear if the officers suffered gunshot wounds or were struck by shrapnel or glass.

Aguilar says police shut down several blocks to look for two gunmen. Dozens of police officers, police dogs, a helicopter crew and SWAT vehicles are participating in the search.
