President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy Friday for the pastor of a Charleston, South Carolina, church who was gunned down along with eight parishioners in what authorities say was a racially motivated hate crime.

Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Charleston for the services for the Reverend Clementa Pinckney, who led the Emanuel AME Church and was a state senator.

The president has said the June 17 shooting raises troubling questions about race and gun violence in the U.S. that have not been addressed.
