Unarmed boy, 12, faces gun charge after school threat
Dallas — Dallas police say an unarmed 12-year-old boy has been arrested after he produced a diagram outlining his plan to “shoot up” his school.
Investigators say the boy is in juvenile custody on a felony charge of exhibition of firearms related to the threat, even though no gun has been found.
Dallas police arrested the boy Thursday afternoon at Trinity Basin Preparatory School. Nobody was hurt.
Police say the boy approached another student several times in recent weeks saying he was “going to shoot up the school” and trying to recruit the other child. The second student thought the suspect was joking until the suspect showed him a diagram Thursday.
The second student then told an administrator, who summoned police.
No information was available on an attorney for the suspect.
