Clinton saddened over fatal crash with Secret Service agents
Wakefield, N.H. — Hillary Clinton says she was saddened and concerned to hear about the head-on collision in New Hampshire in which four on-duty Secret Service agents were hurt and the driver of the other car was killed.
She says in a statement Wednesday: “My husband and I send our prayers and condolences to all the victims and their families.”
The accident happened Tuesday night in Wakefield, near the Maine state line.
The Democratic presidential candidate was heading to a town hall meeting farther north in Berlin.
It wasn’t immediately known in what capacity the agents were working. Police said they were traveling south on Route 16 when a northbound car crossed over the center line and hit them.
The driver, 45-year-old Bruce Danforth, died. A Secret Service spokeswoman said the agents sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. They and Danforth’s two passengers were taken to hospitals.
