School mocks ‘whiners’ in email to parents
Wilmington, Del. — A Delaware school district has apologized after a staff member inadvertently sent parents a sarcastic “Hurt Feelings Report” that makes fun of “whiners.”
The form is structured like a bullying report and was attached to an email sent Wednesday to parents at Wilmington’s Lombardy Elementary School for an upcoming “Exercise Your Brain Day” event, The News Journal of Wilmington reported.
The document says it is “meant to assist whiners in documenting hurt feelings.” Included on the form are boxes for “whiner’s name” and “type of whine used,” as well as responses for “Did you require a ‘tissue’ for tears” and “I want my mommy.” The same fake form appears on several Internet humor sites.
Brandywine School District spokeswoman Alexis Andrianopoulos apologized for the email, saying that an unidentified staff member accidentally attached the wrong form.
“This was an embarrassing mistake, but it was just that — a mistake,” Andrianopoulos said in an email. “It should not have happened, and we apologize for the error.”
Andrianopoulos said the form didn’t come from the school or the school district.
The Brandywine School District has an anti-bullying committee and an online form that allows incidents to be reported anonymously.
