Washington – The Secret Service says who man shot himself outside the White House on Saturday has died.

In a Twitter post Saturday afternoon, the agency said the man approached the north White House fence line around 11:46 a,m. and removed a concealed handgun and fired several rounds, “none of which appear at this time to have been directed towards the White House.”

President Donald Trump is not at the White House – he’s in Florida, but is set to return later Saturday.

The agency says in a Twitter post that there are no other reported injuries related to the incident.

White House press secretary says “we are aware of the situation, the president has been briefed.”

The Secret Service is withholding the identity of the man pending notification of relatives.
