Teen’s sketch helps make arrest in her rape

Raleigh, N.C. – Prosecutors say a North Carolina teenager’s artistic ability and keen eye has helped make an arrest in her 2017 rape.

News outlets report Wake County prosecutors said in court Thursday the girl was able to give police a drawing of the man she says had sexually assaulted her when she was 15. Prosecutors say she was raped in a Raleigh neighborhood as she was walking home from a swimming pool.

County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman says sketches in such cases are usually done professionally, not by a victim.

Prosecutors say the girl contacted authorities again after seeing the man’s photo from a robbery on TV in February. They say 28-year-old Sean Thomas Klinek is charged with rape and other offenses. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer who could comment.
