Ann Arbor — An 11-year-old Ann Arbor girl says she was honored to be a part of a Jewish delegation to meet President Barack Obama earlier this week at the White House.

Ann Arbor News reports Chaya Goldstein was selected from the Jewish Children’s Corps to meet Obama on Monday as part of a delegation of Chabad-Lubovitch Jews.

They were welcomed by the president to commemorate Education and Sharing Day USA, which was established by Congress in 1978 to honor Rabbi Menachem Schneerson. He was the spiritual leader of Chabad Jews until his death in 1994.

Obama’s proclamation this year made special note of the emphasis Schneerson placed on the education of girls and women. The proclamation states Schneerson worked to break down barriers for girls who wanted to learn.
