Kid Rock to attend Novi rally for GOP Senate hopeful James
Kid Rock will attend a Tuesday rally in Novi for Republican Senate hopeful John James, his campaign says.
Rock, a Michigan native, for months last year teased a run for the U.S. Senate that turned out to be a publicity stunt.
Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, was seen at a Detroit Pistons game with James in January.
So far, he has not made an formal endorsement in the GOP primary, in which the other contender is Grosse Pointe financier Sandy Pensler.
"Bob loves this country and has been a longtime supporter of military veterans and their families," James said. "I'm excited to have him on stage with us as we rally to take back Michigan!"
Rob O’Neill, a former Navy SEAL, is also slated to attend the rally. O'Neill, who took part in the 2011 mission that killed Osama bin Laden, last year endorsed James.
The rally will feature live music, giveaways, trivia and a shooting range and gun safety course with cork rifles, a campaign spokesman said.
The rally is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Suburban Collection Showplace at 46100 Grand River Ave in Novi. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Rock, James and O'Neill are expected to take the stage around 8 p.m.
