Lansing — The Michigan Republican Party is asking its candidates for governor to pay $10,000 for advertising time at the upcoming state convention in Grand Rapids, an offer that's puzzled some of the GOP hopefuls.

According to a March 24 letter obtained by The Detroit News, state party Chairman Ron Weiser gave the Republican candidates the chance to create two-minute videos about their campaigns to air at the endorsement convention.
