The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced three closures on Interstate 75 this weekend that will affect traffic both in the Thumb and metro areas.

In the metro area, northbound and southbound I-75 will be closed from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday at Dixie Highway for utility work.

Northbound and southbound I-75 will also be closed at Davisburg Road from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Saturday for utility work.

In Saginaw County, MDOT is scheduled to resurface the southbound I-75 bridge deck of the Lake State Railroad Co., in Buena Vista Charter Township, from 5 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.

During the 12 hour project, northbound and southbound motorists will be detoured to I-675 to allow for deck work on the bridge.

After 5 p.m. on Saturday southbound I-75 will reopen to traffic while northbound I-75 will remain detoured to I-675 throughout the remainder of the weekend.

The normal traffic shift and detour schedule is as follows:

■Sundays — Tuesdays, three lanes will be open on southbound I-75. Northbound I-75 will be detoured to northbound I-675.

■Wednesdays — Saturdays, the three northbound I-75 lanes will be shifted onto southbound I-75 while southbound I-75 traffic will be closed with traffic detoured to southbound I-675.
