A hazardous material spill on south U.S. 23 at North Territorial Road and eastbound M-14 has forced the shutdown of the those lanes in Washtenaw County.

A tractor trailer overturned around 1 p.m. Monday, spilling an unknown substance, police said. There have been no reports of injuries. The lane closures continued into Monday evening, according to Michigan State Police.

A hazmat crew was sent to assess the spill, MSP said.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has asked motorists to avoid the area.
